ELEMKO SA, High Voltage & High Current Laboratory

ELEMKO SA holds a unique High Voltage & High Current Laboratory, which is able to test and simulate the effect of lightning. It is equipped with impulse current generators able to simulate up to 100kA (10/350µs, 8/20µs) in short circuit mode.

Its unique and innovative design allows the testing of high impedance loads, in contradiction with ordinary crow bar impulse current generators. Also the laboratory is equipped with impulse voltage generators able to test up to 500kV (1,2/50µs & 250/2500µs). Other equipment such as HVAC, HVDC, Combination wave generators are included in the test facilities of the laboratory.

Additionally the laboratory has a complete range of environmental test chambers for climatic and corrosion environment simulation. The laboratory is accredited by the US accreditation organization A2LA, for testing standards the BS EN 62561 series (Lightning protection components).
