Dimitrios N. Kokkinos

Mr. Dimitrios N. Kokkinos was born in Cairo, Egypt and holds a degree in Electrical Engineering. At the early stage of his career Mr Dimitrios Kokkinos was a product development engineer for oil filled medium voltage transformers and later on a design engineer for medium voltage substations.

 

In 1973 he founded ELEMKO SA, a manufacturing and design company of lightning, earthing and surge protection systems. Currently he is also the Commercial and General Manager of E & B Solutions Ltd.  Throughout his career he has been involved in numerous designs and solutions in a variety of projects relevant to earthing either for safety of functional purposes as well as for lightning and surge protection.  He is the author of 4 books and more than 25 conference & journal publications all relevant to earthing and lightning protection.  Since 1989, he is also an active member as an expert in the International standardization committee IEC TC81 and in the European standardization committee CLC TC 81 working in earthing and lightning protection standards development.

 

Moreover since 2002 he has been awarded the convenorship of CENELEC TC 81 / WG2 and later on of IEC TC 81 / WG11 leading both working groups into the development of standard requirements for testing of components used in earthing and lightning protection systems.

Nikolaos D. Kokkinos

Dr. Nikolaos D. Kokkinos was born in Athens, Greece and received the M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Power and High Voltage Engineering from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) UK in 2001 and 2004 respectively.

Since 2004 Nikolaos has been involved in earthing and lightning & overvoltage protection design and product development in ELEMKO SA. Currently he is also the managing director of E & B Solutions Ltd.

His main responsibilities include review of designs relevant to earthing and lightning & overvoltage protection. He is the author of 2 books and more than 20 conference & journal publications all relevant to earthing and lightning protection.

Since 2007, he is also an active member as an expert in the International standardization committee IEC SC 37A, IEC TC81 and in the European standardization committee CLC TC 37 working in lightning protection and surge protection standards development. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and International Professional Engineer (IntPE) awarded by the British Engineering Council. He is also awarded the European Engineer (EUR Ing) title by FEANI.
